Our story
It was upsetting when we learnt that our friend was defrauded out of £10K investment in crypto assets but it hurt even more when our own relative was trapped in an online romance scam costing her £45K. We hear these types of ‘stories’ everyday, only the character changes.
Due to the association of anonymity with the use of the Internet to communicate and trade, online crimes have taken different forms: breach of privacy, stolen card details, stolen identities and fake online vendors. Imperfect information is the number one cause of online fraud, costing the UK over £100 billion annually.
